Daniel and Judith Pillow

Daniel E. Pillow, 80, and Judith K. Pillow, 80, both of Madrid, Iowa, passed away just one day apart—Daniel on June 27, 2025, and Judith on June 28, 2025.

Daniel was born on November 8, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Alta Kleindienst. Judith was born on December 10, 1944, in Madrid, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mildred Margene (Tesdahl) Patrick.

Daniel and Judith met and were married on April 18, 1963, in Denver, Colorado, while Daniel was serving his country during the Vietnam War. Throughout their life together, they made their home between Colorado and Iowa, settling in Madrid for the past ten years.

They are survived by their children, Dave (Brenda) Pillow of Woodward, Iowa, and Danielle (Matt) Johnson of Maryville, Missouri; grandchildren, Joseph, Brandon, Hunter, and Brooklyn; and great-grandchildren, Jace, Josie, Jett, Amelia, Adaline, and Valerie. Judith is also survived by her brother, Michael (Nina) Patrick of Nebraska.

A joint graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the Wounded Warrior Project, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
