Nancy Sue Endreland

Nancy Sue Endreland was born on June 25, 1951 to Harold Sydney Endreland and Arlene Joy (Samuelson) Endreland at Forest City Hospital in Forest City, Iowa. She passed away real sudden on March 28, 2021 at the age of 69 years, 9 months, and 3 days.

Nancy was one of three children. She was raised on a farm north east of Thompson, Iowa. She attended the school at Thompson and graduated there in 1969. She then went to Spencer, Iowa and completed a 9-month secretarial course at the business school.

She began her long clerical/secretarial career in Ames, Iowa working at Iowa State University, 3M Company, and Manpower.

In 1987 she answered an ad in the paper for a nanny position on the East Coast. She lived a year in Norwalk, Connecticut taking care of a 3-year-old boy. During that year she fell in love with the beaches, lighthouses and did some travelling of the northwestern states as well as New York City. She returned home to Iowa working for the Probation/Parole Office (Story & Boone County) State of Iowa in Ames, Iowa and Woodward Resource Center in Woodward, Iowa in several types of secretarial and clerical jobs in maintenance and dietary division.

For several years in the 1970’s she was a part of a women’s musical ensemble singing many different genres. They sang at various local events such as auxiliaries, care centers, churches and the 4th of July celebration in Slater, Iowa.

In the 1970’s she spent time in Las Vegas and went on a Caribbean Cruise off the state of Florida.  In the early 80’s she traveled with her parents camping and enjoying the sits on both the East and West Coast.

She never married but was Auntie to 7 nieces and nephews, 21 great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces She was a Godmother to many. She was really proud of them all.

In the 2000’s she composed a collection of poems and entered several of them in contests and was published twice.

She enjoyed reading, music, crocheting, and scrapbooking. She collected blown glass and lighthouses.

In 2013 she retired from Woodward Resource Center in Woodward, Iowa.

She is survived by her sister, Judy Hector of Fairmont, MN and a brother, John Endreland of Ames, Iowa, 7 nieces and nephews, Tammy Petersen of Fairmont, MN, Pamela Petersen of Ankeny, IA, Brent Petersen (Amy) of Fairmont, MN, Jeremy (Tessa) Petersen of Sherburn, MN, Marisa (Mike) Grimm of Sunbright, TN, Rachel Wright of Ames, IA, Kyle Endreland of Ames, IA and 21 great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces and many cousins and spouses.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sydney and Arlene Endreland, a sister-in-law, Luanne Endreland and aunts and uncles.
