Joe M. Ugolini, 89

 Joe M. Ugolini, 89, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone, Iowa. Joe was born on June 14, 1931, in Zook Spur, Iowa to Pete and Jenny (Amidei) Ugolini. He graduated from Madrid High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War. He worked at John Deere in Ankeny and retired with more than 30 years of service.

Joe was a sports enthusiast and his favorite teams that he loved watching were the St. Louis Cardinals, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Madrid Tigers. He also had many great memories of being a part of the Madrid Merchants fastpitch softball team and was known by many as "Scooter". He was a member of the Madrid VFW Post 5060 and St. Malachy's Catholic Church.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Chrisy (Johnny) Bregar and Sandy (Rod) Shore both of Madrid; granddaughter, Nicole (Matt) Lorenzen of Grimes; sister, Wilma Smith of Apple Valley, Minnesota and brother, Marion Ugolini of Ankeny. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers.

Memorials may be given in his name to Madrid VFW Post 5060, St. Malachy's Church, or the Eastern Star Masonic Home.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at the Eastern Star Home for their patience, compassion, and wonderful care that he received while there.

Private family services will be held at the Sundberg-Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Madrid with burial in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
